Rev. Skelton's final place of rest is located at Garden of Honor, H-24, Space 4. REV. AMOS JASPER "A. J." SKELTON, age 97, of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at local area hospital. Rev. Skelton was born on March 9, 1917 in Demorest, Georgia to the late Fred Melvin and Lillie Chambers Skelton. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lorene Willett Skelton. Rev. Skelton was a member of Clarkesville Church of God and had served as pastor of the Cherokee Church of God in Cherokee, North Carolina for 17 years. He was a veteran of the United State Navy, having served his country during World War II. Rev. Skelton was retired from Clarkesville Mills with 27 years of loyal and dedicated service. He was also a full time minister of the Gospel. Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and Kenneth Witcher, Demorest, GA; one niece and three nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at 3 pm at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest Georgia, with Rev. Austin Ivester and Mr. Mike Randall officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Tim Tanner officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 3-6 pm at the funeral home.
