Ann Payne

Mr. Payne's final place of rest is located at Garden of Devotion II, N-8, Space 1. Ann Gastley Payne, age 68, of Cornelia, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015. Born in Stephens County, on February 20, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Curtis and Blanche Woodall Gastley. Mrs. Payne was formerly employed with Hammond Tax Service and was also a substitute teacher with Habersham County School System. She was a member of Good News Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and her beloved dogs, Tootie, MayMay and Tiny. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Payne, Jr.; grandchild, Draven Payne Umbehant. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, David and Angela Payne of Baldwin; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Matt Umbehant of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Sean Umbehant, Ashton Umbehant, Victoria Payne and Grayson Payne; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bruce and Peggy Payne of Alto. Funeral services are 2 pm Thursday, October 1, 2015, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Eddie Umbehant and Rev. Mickey Umbehant officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
