Mrs. McCoy's final place of rest is located at Sunset Hill IV, D-12, Space 2. BARBARA ANNE MCELHANNON MCCOY, age 79, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Mrs. McCoy was born on July 12, 1935 in Athens, Georgia to the late John Henry and Minnie Belle McElhannon. She was an active member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, having worked as a Sunday School Teacher, and with the youth. She was also a route carrier for Gainesville Times for a number of years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by grandchildren, Casey McCoy, Andrew Cowart, Jason McCoy, Lori Kelley; and sister, Francis Davis; and brother, Carlton McElhannon.Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Robert T. "Bob" McCoy, of Mt. Airy; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Doug Downer, Linda and Randall Gragg, Teresa and Johnny Kelley, MaDonna and Terry Grant; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Mary ann McCoy, Mike and Deborah McCoy, Mitchell and Katharine McCoy; sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Kenneth Hart; 14 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Dr. Butch Franklin and Rev. Hal Cason. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2015 and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015.
