Clara Lee Beck Petrie

Mrs. Petrie's final place of rest is in Sunset Hill I, I-1, Space 1. Clara Lee Loudermilk Beck Petrie, age 88, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023. Born on December 5, 1934, in Mt. Airy, she was a daughter of the late Samuel O’Neal “Doc” Loudermilk and Ruby Hill Loudermilk. Mrs. Petrie retired from Ethicon after 25 plus years of service. She also worked at Carwood Manufacturing for a number of years as well as being a chicken grower. Mrs. Petrie was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Clara had a passion for playing the piano, kids, gardening, and flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hubert Clay Beck; second husband, Dennis William Petrie; daughter, Diane Beck Witherspoon; grandsons, Andy Turner and Chance Cantrell; and sister, Lois Ann Pruitt. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Sam Beck (Debbie) of Cornelia and Phillip Morris (Joan) of Banks County; daughters and sons-in-law: Janet Yarber (Rev. Phillip) of Mt. Airy, Kathy Herrin (Jeff) of Cornelia, and Phyllis Cantrell (Jack) of Mt. Airy; grandchildren and their spouses: Ricky Jackson (Marsha), Jeffrey Jackson (Jaime), Randall Yarber (Brandy), Jennifer Bruning (Brian), Sammy Beck (Misty), Clay Cantrell (Mandy), Corey Cantrell (Haley), Kelly Echols (Judah), Josh Herrin (Jessica), Jade Bramlett (Josh), and Hope Burris; 45 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, J.W. Loudermilk (Annie) of Mt. Airy; brother-in-law, Thomas Pruitt; son-in-law, Bob Witherspoon; granddaughter-in-law, Beth Turner; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Yarber, Mr. Sam Beck, and Mr. Corey Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home.
