Mr. Stephens' final place of rest is located at Sunset Hill I, D-24, Space 4. Mr. Donald “Donnie” Lee Stephens, age 62 of Cornelia, passed away on Monday Morning, March 13, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens, Demorest, Georgia. The procession will be led by a Frito Lay Tractor Trailer, in honor of Donnie’s 39 years of dedicated service with Frito Lay. Mr. George Lee and Mr. Phillip Farris will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, prior to the service at the funeral home. Donnie was born May 8, 1954 in Gainesville, Georgia to Harrell Lee Stephens and Eunice Katie Holbrooks Stephens. He retired in October of 2016 from Frito Lay with 39 years of service. Donnie, better known as “Mickey” by those he worked with, loved his job driving a Tractor Trailer, never meeting a stranger wherever the road took him. Those that had the privilege of meeting Donnie, loved him and will forever have an empty place in their hearts. He loved his family, never missing a day calling each one and checking to make sure all was ok. Donnie had a deep love for his spiritual family and his faith in God motivated his choices in life. Donnie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Rebecca “Becky” Jane Stephens of Cornelia, his daughter & son-in-law, Amy & Daniel Stickel of Cornelia, his son & daughter-in-law, Justin & Laura Stephens of Cornelia, his five precious grandchildren, Carson, Aiden, Parker, Jocelyn and Leila, his brother & sister-in-law, Earl & Shelley Stephens of Bishopville, South Carolina, sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Lynn & Al Bengtson of Lula and Laura & Robbie Painter of Valley Station, Kentucky and his mother-in-law, Alline Stevenson of Cornelia. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their kindness and care of Donnie these past three weeks.
