Dorothy Waldrop

Mrs. Waldrop's final place of rest is located at Sunset Hill III, B-4, Space 1. Dorothy S. “Dot” Waldrop, age 96, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Mrs. Waldrop was born on November 27, 1921 in Douglas, Georgia to the late J.M. and Ruby Pharr Strickland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Waldrop, Sr.; son, Lewis Waldrop, Jr.; brothers, Mack Strickland, Edward Strickland, Dick Strickland; and sister, Lois Johnson. Mrs. Waldrop was a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia where she was a member of the Volunteer Sunday School Class and was active in all aspects of the church. She was also a member of the Gideon’s International Auxiliary. She was a home maker. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Janie and Ken Morris, Cornelia; Eve and Steve Marks, Atlanta; Lynn and Curtis Williams, Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Becky Waldrop, Alto; daughter-in-law, Sharon Waldrop, Greer, SC; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family. A Private Graveside Service will be held. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel.
