Mrs. Black's final place of rest is located at Garden of Devotion I, S-4, Space 3. Elaine Worthy Black, age 75, of Demorest, went to be with The Lord Thursday March 3, 2016 following an extended illness. Mrs. Black was born January 11, 1941, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Herbert and Louise Worthy. She was a member of The Torch and was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Todd Black. Mrs. Black is survived by her husband, Clarence Kenneth Black of Demorest; daughters, Lynn Thrower of Clemmons, NC, Beth Bradshaw of Hudson, NC, Tracy Pilkington of Mt. Holly, NC; son, Marty Black of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Stacy and Lee Black of Bishop, GA; brother, Thomas Worthy of Thailand; grandchildren, Alyssa Thrower, Dillon Thrower, Blakely Thrower, Kyle Carnes, Annarah Howe, Clarence Black, Marissa White; and great-grandchild, Kobie Rivers. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 6, 2016 at The Torch with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the funeral home.
