Mrs. Dooley's final place of rest is located at Sunset Hill IV, E-4, Space 3. Fannie Francis Fortson Dooley was born June 12, 1936 to the late Ernest Fortson Sr. and Viola Stephens Fortson in Mount Airy, Georgia. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 5, 2016. After graduating from the Cornelia Colored School, Fannie attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. She joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age, and always remained a loyal and dedicated member; where she served on the Women’s Missionary Society and participated in many other church activities. “Miss Dooley” had a true love of community. Fannie was a long-time member of the Wisteria Civic Club, and served as President from 1971-1973. She was also a member of the Cornelia Senior Citizen club. On any given day, you could find Fannie working on her crossword puzzle, enjoying her flowers, or attending to her beloved fish and dog, Gracie. Fannie was united in matrimony to the late Wilbon C. Dooley, and to the union four children was born. She leaves to cherish her memories; daughters and son-in-law, Donna (Woody) Brown, and Brenda Williams; sons and daughters-in-law, Carl (Melissa), and Jeff (Tammie); 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sister, Ladell Tutt; brother and sister-in-law, Willie D. Fortson (Hattie); sister-in-law, Una Christine Fortson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Oliver Dorsey officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the service hour on Thursday at the church. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for your prayers, calls, presence, and the many acts of kindness during their hours of bereavement and grief.
