Mr. Thomas' final place of rest is located at Garden of Devotion I, Q-8, Space 2. Lester Thomas, age 74 of New York formerly of Alto, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Born in Cleveland, Georgia on July 17, 1944 to the late Jonah & Hazel Mulkey Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a retired truck driver with Thurston Dodd Welding Shop. He was of the Holiness faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, W.C. Thomas; sisters, Olean Bates and Minnie Jean Robinson. Surviving are his children and spouses, Scotty & Michelle Thomas of Cornelia, Leslie Thomas & Jerry Dill of Mt. Airy, Aidan Thomas and Hannah Thomas both of New York; former wife, Vicky Goble Thomas of Alto; brothers, Garvice Thomas of Demorest and Robert Thomas of Alto; sisters, Ora Freeman and Juanita Moose both of Demorest, Ida Loggins of Cleveland; grandchild, Nathan Dill; step-grandchildren, Natalie & Nathan Moore. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Wednesday, May 22, 2019 in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. John Umberhant and Rev. Tracy Davidson officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Graham officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
