Mrs. Skelton's final place of rest is at Garden of Honor, H-24, Space 3. Lorene Willett Skelton, age 90 of Clarkesville, GA died Thursday, May 8, 2008. Mrs. Skelton was born in Habersham County, GA on October 14, 1918 to the late George & Lillian Hunter. She was preceded in death by her sister, Christine Hunter Service. Mrs. Sketlon was retired from the Habersham County Health Department after thirty years of dedicated service. She was a member of The Clarkesville Church of God and for the last seventeen years associated with The Cherokee Church of God, Cherokee, NC, where her husband of sixty-seven years, the Rev. Amos Jasper "AJ" Skelton, has served as pastor. Survivors include, in addition to her husband one nephew, Jimmy Service, Huntsville, AL. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Wilmer Ivester officiating. Burial will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-9 pm on Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
