Luther Williams

Rev. Williams' final place of rest is located at Sunset Hills IV, A-9, Space 2. Rev. Williams was born on November 24, 1920 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Dewey and Annie Bertschin Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Darnell Williams; and sister, Lena Garland. He was a member of Currahee Baptist Church. Rev. Williams was a Minister of the Gospel for 66 years, he served as Pastor at the following Baptist Churches: Mt. View, Currahee, Union Hill, Enon, Belton, Ridgeway, and Double Springs. He retired from Carwood Manufacturing and Duck Head Manufacturing and retired the second time at age 92, from Short Manufacturing Company. Rev. Williams was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jean Meeler and James, of Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, J. R. Williams and JoAnne, of Salt Lake City, UT; son, Darrell Williams, of Baldwin; and granddaughter, Kristy Meeler, of Jacksonville, FL. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Larry Forrester, Rev. Robert Nix, and Rev. Dwayne Ryals officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the funeral home.
