Mrs. Powell's Final Place of Rest is located in Garden of Honor, Block - H-16, Space 3 Martha Lucille Rice Powell, age 95, of Banks County, Georgia passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. John Wyatt officiating. Interment will be held in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the funeral home prior to the service. Born on March 26, 1927 in Blairsville, Georgia. Lucille was a daughter of the late John Rice and Emily Rose Souther Rice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years, Milton Powell; a daughter, Jean Hudson and grandson, Alex Norton; sister, Lorraine Goss; brothers, J.W. Rice and Lee Rice. Mrs. Powell retired from Scoville Manufacturing Company after 25 years as a Quality Control Inspector. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, but the biggest enjoyment was her family. Weekly family meals became common at her home. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Ronnie Parham; Peggy and Rick Powers; Mary and Randall Norton; son-in-law, Bill Hudson and wife, Nancy; two grandchildren, Alice Gunter and spouse, Grant; and Jay Norton; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Judson Gunter; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Maxine Rice; sister-in-law, Ovalene Rice. Lucille was blessed with loving and caring people that came into her life: The Oaks Assisted Living, Pruitt Hospice, Brenda Allen, Sandy Armour, and Shirley Shook.
