Marvin Loye Smith, age 86 of Mt. Airy, passed away November 1, 2024.

Born in Clayton, Georgia on June 5, 1938, Mr. Smith was the son of the late Marvin and Lassie Bell Kastner Smith. Mr. Smith was employed earlier in his career with Clarkesville Mill, and later he was a fixer for Vermont American for 25 years before he retired. Mr. Smith was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed watching NASCAR. He was also a Georgia Bulldog fan and loved watching college football. Mr. Smith was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife Linda Wood Smith and brothers Ernest Smith, Jr. and Bobby V. C. Smith.

Survivors include sons Randy Smith (Nora) of El Paso, Texas and Dale Smith (Mary) of Lineville, Alabama, daughter Robin Frady (Tracy) of Mt. Airy, brother Darrell Smith (Lynn) of Mt. Airy, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chris Webb, officiating. Interment will follow the service in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
