Mr. Cook's final place of rest is located at Garden of Devotion I, P-6, Space 3. Roland Wendell Cook, age 58 of Demorest, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 01, 2017. Born in Burlington, North Carolina on August 01, 1959, he was a son of the late Garland Cook & Sarah Mae Pinnix Cook. Mr. Cook worked with Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson Co) for over 23 years. He enjoyed car shows, grilling, traveling, but most of all spending time with his wonderful wife and family. He was a member of the Classic City Corvette Club. Mr. Cook was a Deacon and long-time member of the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Leroy Pinnix, Lewis Pinnix, and a sister, Shaundra Cook. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, beloved wife, Dr. Monica Hudson Cook of Demorest, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Shauntara & Christopher Jones of Oxnard, CA; grandchildren, Axel & Trinity Jones of Oxnard, CA; brother & sister-in-law, Tony & Diane Cook of Cornelia, GA; mother-in-law & father-in-law, Phyllis & Henry English of Lula, GA; sister-in-law, Brea English of Lula, GA; aunts, Nora Jordan & Eva Nell Pinnix, both of Burlington, NC; uncle & aunt, Larry D. & Renea Pinnix of Durham, NC; special cousin in which he treated like a brother, Darrell Wright of Kennesaw, GA; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 05, 2017 at the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Ernest Burns officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens. Mr. Cook will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday.
