Susie Mae Ausburn

Ms. Ausburn's final place of rest is located at Sunset Hill I, D-8, Space 1. Susie Mae Chitwood Ausburn, age 96 of Cornelia, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Born in Banks County, Georgia on April 29, 1924, she was a daughter of the late William Oscar & Mary Elizabeth Smith Chitwood. Susie was a seamstress and retired from Carwood Manufacturing with many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Level Grove Baptist Church for over 70 years where she enjoyed serving in teaching positions from nursery age, teenage group, and in the Adult Ladies Sunday School classes. Susie also loved singing in the church choir and participating in the Sunshine Band Senior Group activities. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, and was a magnet for any child with whom she came in contact. Most of all, Susie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Grace Mace, Irene Cantrell, Edith Jenkins, Annie Loudermilk, & Billy Chitwood. Survivors include her children, Carol & Rudy Cantu of Kingwood, TX; Gay & Sonny Williams of Blairsville, GA; Wanda Dill of Flowery Branch, GA; Barbara & Bruce DeMore of Clarkesville, GA; sister, Lucile Smith of Cornelia, GA; grandchildren, Stephanie & Chris Turner of Boise, ID; Leilani & Jason Bales of Garland, TX; Anthony & Isamar Cantu of Kingwood, Tx; Camille & Kevin Ready of Marietta, GA; Angela Paige Mefferd of Oakwood, GA; Matt & Lisa Mefferd of Gainesville, GA; Brandon & Hannah DeMore of Clarkesville, GA; Brett & Heather DeMore of Mt. Airy, GA; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Fay Olson of Gainesville, GA; honorary daughter, Debra Chitwood of Clarkesville, GA; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, & church family. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Level Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Brian James & Rev. Terry Rice officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
