Mr. Smith's final place of rest is located at Garden of Devotion II, M-4, Space 4. Thomas David Smith, age 69 of Cornelia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 22, 2016, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Clayton, Georgia on October 23, 1946, he was a son of the late Grady and Annie Mae Shirley Smith. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Marine Vietnam veteran and was retired as a plant operator from Georgia Power with 39 years of service. He attended Good News Baptist Church. Survivors include wife, Diane K. Smith of Cornelia; children and spouses, Jerri and Shawn Beasley and Kristi Smith all of Tallulah Falls, Rhonda and Steven Hostetter of Dickson, Tennessee, Kevin and Deanne Belford of Cornelia and Dana and Clint LaPrade of Alto; grandchildren, Austin Bailey, Jordan Beasley, Logan Smith and Joby McClellon, Cara Belford, Landen LaPrade, Madison LaPrade, Kendall Belford and Hudson LaPrade; great grandchildren, Aiden Bell and Kyah Beasley; sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and Tim Harris of Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Sybil Smith of Tallulah Falls; sisters-in-law and spouse, Gail and Doug Pruitt of Cornelia and Suzanne Smith of Cornelia. Funeral services are 2 pm Sunday, April 24, 2016, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Austin Kelley, Bro. Jack Hicks, Rev. Stephen Harris and Bro. Cliff Baird officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
