Tom Canup

Mr. Canup's final place of rest is located at Garden of Yonah II, L- 9, Space 2. Tom B. Canup, age 88, of Mt. Airy, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Mr. Canup was born on January 7, 1931 in Mt. Airy, Georgia to the late Ed and Samantha Worley Canup. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Annette Williams Canup; sons, Danny Thomas Canup, William Canup; brothers, Bob Canup, Fred Canup; sisters, Jean Canup Norton; Mary Canup Chambers Hart; and grandson, George Allen DeVerger. Mr. Canup was of the Nondenominational Christian Faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Canup was retired as an instructor with the Lee Arrendale Institute with 23 years of loyal and dedicated service. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne Standridge Adams and Stanley, of Lula; Brenda DeVerger and Larry, of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Canup and Sandy; of Mt. Airy; daughter-in-law, Genna Canup, of Mt. Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie Canup and Debra, of Alto; Donnie Canup and Carolyn, of Alto; Bill Canup and Edna, of Clarkesville; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Kelvin Neef and Lyle Holladay officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post # 7720, American Legion #84, and the Rabun DAV #15. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the funeral home.
