Mr. Ordner's final place of rest is located at Sunset Hill II, E-2, Space 4. Virgil Lee "Tex" Ordner, age 87, of Alto, Georgia, formerly of Hapeville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016, following an extended illness. Mr. Ordner was born on October 12, 1928, in Temple, Texas, to the late Ben and Agnes Cecilia Looka Ordner. He was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Sandra Ordner, and granddaughter, Brooks Ordner. Mr. Ordner served in the Texas National Guard. He retired from the Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corporation with 38 years of loyal and dedicated service. During that time, he was in charge of 20 meter stations throughout Georgia and Alabama. Virgil was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church and the oldest member of the Knights of Columbus in North Georgia. Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 65 years: Mrs. Patsy Ordner, Alto, GA; son: Paul W. Ordner, Atlanta, GA; sons and daughters-in-law: David Allen and Lisa Ordner, Duluth, GA and Donald Lee and Scarlett Ordner, Norcross, GA; brothers: William Ordner and Belo Ordner, both of Robstown, TX; grandchildren: Caroline Douglas, Jeff D. Ordner, Vivian Ordner, Paul Ordner, Jr., James Ordner, and Benjamin Ordner; and great-grandchildren: Jackson Douglas, Taylor Douglas, Grant Douglas, and Charlie Douglas. A funeral service mass will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, August 8, 2016, at St. Mark Catholic Church with Father Juan officiating. A private family graveside service will follow at Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until the funeral service mass hour on Monday at the church.
