William Bill Loyd

Mr. Loyd's final place of rest is in Sunset Hill I, B-4, Space 4. Mr. William Scarborough Loyd, age 72 of Cornelia passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022. A son of the late Walter R. Loyd and Ranelle S. Loyd, he was born July 13, 1950 in LaGrange, Georgia. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Degree, a graduate of Georgia Banking School, University of Georgia Terry School of Business and a graduate School of Banking LSU. He was an active member of many civic, church and community organizations. He was a devoted member and organist of the Cornelia United Methodist Church for over 30 years. He served in many capacities: Senior Vice President and Marketing Director for Community Bankshares, Instructional Staff UGA, President of the Georgia Bank Marketing Association, Classroom Instructor South Carolina Banking School, President of the Cornelia Kiwanis Club and Distinguished Lieutenant Governor, President of the Habersham County Library Board of Trustees, Vice President of Habersham Christian Center and Board of Directors Piedmont University. He received “Best of Print” advertising award National Bank Association, named outstanding Bank Marketer in the Southeast and one of the top six bank marketers in the nation. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Traylor Loyd. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Loyd; sister, Elaine Partain (Hu); niece, Greer Sorrells (Derek); nephews, Matthew Partin (Kelsey), Ryan Partin (Jennifer); three great- nephews, Brody, Crew and Gray and one great-niece; a very special friend and caregiver, Robin Armour. Private memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Church of the Incarnation, 520 Main Street, P.O. Box 729, Highlands, North Carolina 28741.
