Mrs. York's final place of rest is located at Garden of Calvary, L-11, Space 1. Willie Ruth Johnson York, age 82, of Mount Airy, Georgia, went to be with The Lord on Thursday, February 22, 2018 following an extended illness. Mrs. York was born on May 18, 1935 in Toccoa, Georgia to the late Fred and Bessie Miller Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy York; and sister, Betty Johnson. Mrs. York was of the Baptist Faith. She was a loving and dedicated wife, and mother. Survivors include her daughter, Bessie York, of Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jimmy Franklin, of Mt. Airy; Mrs. York was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel with Rev. Bill Trotter officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to the service hour on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the funeral home.
